Above is a small Scottish island in a bay by the name of Loch Ewe. "Loch" is a Scottish word and means bay, inlet or sea. Here is a bit of information about this island from Wikipedia:
The Isle of Ewe is a small Scottish island on the west coast of Ross and Cromarty. The island is inhabited by a single family, the Grants, who have lived at the Main House in the south of the island since the mid-19th century. The island is privately owned by J.I.H. Macdonald-Buchanan and leased to the Grants.
When I read this it made me think of a poem I had written about the English language. Those of you who know me or read my blog know I have a bit of fun with language. What's this poem? Read on!
My English Poem
English is my mother tongue,
It's very strange you see.
The source of words is quite diverse,
Don't write phonetically.
You know you will impress your friends
with a large vocabulary
But just for once I plead with you
Throw out the dictionary
Ewe never no what eye will due
With words and spelling fun
Witch weigh two turn witch term too youse
Weather its reel oar pun
Eye reed a book that eye have red
A thyme ore to bee four
Due knot recall what it's about
My memory's that pour
Sum things make cents when red allowed
Butt knot when they are written
Weather from Canada, US
Australia, Great Britain.
Eye Finnish this bye being clear
They may bee wrong or write
It matters knot sew Gogh too sleep
Eye bid ewe all good knight!
After you have struggled reading through that you may ask, "What does this have to do with Thunder Mountain? Why is he doing this to us?" These are great questions. Do you know how I know? I wrote them! On a serious note, if there is such a thing as a serious one, there is a reason. As we read English we clearly see we write one way and speak another. In a relationship this can cause problems. I want to be clear with you. With Thunder Mountain we have said what we are going to do and are now doing what we said we would do. No ambiguity there!
With that, here is this week's update:
Exciting times! In the picture above you see a black pipe. It's the piping needed for the sprinkler system. It stands out now. But, after we are done it will blend in nicely. Being the walls are block and the ceiling is concrete, we really didn't have many options. So, hang it from the ceiling we did. We will make sure it's all aesthetically appealing in the end.How about the red lines down the center? That's the electrical for the smoke alarms. The city requires two types of signals: auditory, as in a screeching sound you hear in your ears and visual, flashing lights. These lines will supply the power to screech and flash in case of a fire emergency.
The pool parts are finally in so we can drain the pool, replace the necessary parts and then refill it. Just in time for winter! Well, Sierra Vista is at 4,600 elevation so it does get rather chilly there in the winter. The mountains around the city do get snow. It will be awesome to have that item checked off our list. The parts were very slow to arrive.
The occupancy is moving up! Currently we have 13 occupied, 2 confirmed moving in and 3 in pre-lease in that they are in the application and approval stage. That would put us at 90% of available units occupied! It's exciting to see all the activity going on.
Window framing will begin soon and that will be a big step in the construction "put-back" stage. And then we can install the windows. Momentum!
More big updates next week!
If you haven't figured it out yet, take a moment and read aloud the title to this blog, "Isle of Ewe".
And that is our project from my corner of the globe ~Bruce
